In today’s economy, the ability to rapidly innovate is invaluable. This is true for individuals and organizations alike, and it’s not constrained to tech fields—it’s true for everyone, in every field. Is it any wonder people are on the lookout for more efficient and effective ways to problem-solve, produce new ideas, and bring new products to market?
This is why Udacity is so excited to announce our new Design Sprint Foundations Nanodegree program!
What Is A Design Sprint?
When Jake Knapp’s groundbreaking book Sprint was published, the world was introduced to the design sprint process, and the method caught on like wildfire. Today, the world’s best companies—Google, Facebook, Spotify, Blue Bottle Coffee, and more—are using product design sprints to power rapid innovation, promote creative efficiency, and test new business ideas.
“It’s what work should be about—not wasting time in endless meetings, then seeking camaraderie in a team-building event at a bowling alley—but working together to build something that matters to real people. This is the best use of your time. This is a sprint.” —Jake Knapp
In this program, you’ll learn exactly how and why the design sprint process is so effective, and why it’s central to the success of so many top companies. You’ll learn how a design sprint works, how to participate in one, and how to lead one yourself.
“A Design Sprint at AJ&Smart is a 4-day process for rapidly solving big challenges, creating new products, or improving existing ones. It compresses potentially months of work into a few days.” —Jonathan Courtney, Product Designer and Co-Founder, AJ&Smart
To deliver the best design sprint training possible, we’ve partnered with international design firm AJ&Smart. Their team has pioneered a Version 2.0 of the sprint method to successfully design products for leading companies like Lufthansa, Zalando, Red Bull, and more. With the experts from AJ&Smart, we’ve built a hands-on learning experience that will enable you to become an exceptional problem-solver, with the skills to efficiently and effectively power rapid innovation in virtually any arena.
Central to the program’s learning experience is the simulated design sprint we’ve created for you. We’ve established a fictitious company with a real-life problem to solve, and we use the 4-day design sprint structure to organize the curriculum. You’ll master every step of the process with instruction from our Udacity experts, and the AJ&Smart team. You’ll learn what happens on each day of a design sprint, and understand the responsibilities of each participant’s role. You’ll help the company solve its challenges, and make actual contributions to the process in the form of your project submissions!
The Design Sprint Foundations Nanodegree program consists of one term that is one month long. There are no prerequisites to enroll.
